Occupants of the saloon car we are told were at Akosombo to pick up some documents for a cousin who will be travelling abroad.

Relatives of some of the victims rushed to the hospital when they heard the of the accident.
“I don’t believe this is really happening because he is my only son. He left for work this morning but least expected to hear something like this. I had to rush here when a neighbour broke the sad news to me on phone. I couldn’t help but come. I can’t see my only son die,” a worried mother said.
About 5 meters from the scene was also a black Nissan Sentra saloon car with registration number GW 549-11.

The saloon car was also involved in an accident about 24 hours earlier but was yet to be towed away by the relevant authorities.
Some bystanders suspect the scene of the previous accident and some showers experienced by Akosombo and its environs might have contributed to the accident.
