 A car dealing company, Eddu Motors Company Limited, based in Kasoa in the Central region has failed in delivering on a contract between them and tens of its customers.

The company is said to have failed to supply the customers vehicles for which they have made up to 10% down payments with some of the payments dating back to as far as July 2017.

A number of their clients who were on Adom FM‘s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, told show host, Captain Smart, that not even their decision to opt for a refund of their monies has materialised as the company keeps tossing them.

Documents including terms of agreements, text messages and letters exchanged between the clients and the company, which have been made available to the Dwaso team indicate that the company has failed on many occasions to fulfil their promises of either supplying the vehicles or refunding their monies.

Even though the company’s terms and conditions explicitly state, among other things that “should the supply period exceed six (6) months, EMCL will refund a lump sum (in all) payment for full discharge equivalent to 2.5% of the part payment made for every additional and complete month the supply is delayed”, Eddu Motors has failed in holding itself to these terms.

Yaw Turkson, an aggrieved customer said he paid GH₵7,000 for a Sprinter bus in July 2017 but the company has failed to supply the bus, adding that attempts he has made to get his money back has also failed.

“All attempts to get my money have proven futile as management of Eddu Motors keep telling me Anansie stories,” he fumed in Twi.

Yaw Turkson is hoping by sharing his story, government will intervene to enable him get his money.

Another customer, Agnes said she had to go for a loan to be able to make the down payment and the company’s failure to fulfil the terms of the agreement by either supplying her choice of vehicle or pay back her money has left her in debt.

The single mother of two said anything she went to the Kasoa office of Eddu Motors for her money, she was told stories upon stories.

Vida Ankomah

Another customer, Vida Ankomah who paid GH₵2,000 as a down payment for a car for her unemployed husband threatened to take the law into her own hands.

“I will storm their office and vandalize the cars to appease my soul if they fail to pay me,” she fumed.

Conceding that she did not do due diligence before paying her money, Madam Vida said she was blinded by her husband’s unemployment situation.

The General Manager of Eddu Motors, Emma Kuofi, has however denied any wrongdoing, insisting that what the customers signed to is what they have been offered.

She explained that they have not breached any of the terms of the agreement with all their customers.

“We are working based on the contract we signed with them so they can’t accuse us of any wrongdoing,” she stressed.

Mr Kuofi, however, promised to pay the aggrieved customers all their monies by close of Thursday.
