Ghanaian film producer and veteran actor, Oscar Provencal has slammed critics lambasting renowned Ghanaian actor Majid Michel for shunning kissing roles in movies.
Earlier, actor Majid Michel, who now spends most of his time preaching the word of God, has disclosed that he is no longer going kiss in movies.
The actor said his decision is because of commitment to propagating the word of God.
Famous for having good looks the actor has starred in movies that saw him play the ‘ladies’ man’ roles and kiss severally. One of his steaming kissing scenes is with Mercy Johnson in ‘Shakira’.
But speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM Tuesday, Mr Provencal backed Majid Michel indicating that he has the right regardless to shun the kissing role in movies.
According to him, movie producers can adopt a body double for him if such kissing roles come up in any of his movie contracts.
“It’s a personal choice. People will have their values [but] it’s his choice. If it’s a nude seen or any context, will I do it for money? Will I do it in the traditional context? Looking in the acting fraternity, there are body doubles. So he can use that and no one will know it’s him. It’s his choice…” he said.
Asked if he Oscar Provencal will opt for a nude scene, he said: “I don’t know. I don’t think I will do any nudity. Not because my stature isn’t good for it…” he disclosed.
He further encouraged players in the movie industry to desist from throwing in the towel but rather work hard to project a positive image for the industry.
“We have a powerful platform to transform the continent in a positive. We have a narrative about witches, wizards, adulterers and it’s been compounded by the western world’s propaganda about what Africa is, we have to move out of that zone to perpetrate what it is…” he maintained.
