The Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (New Patriotic Party) over its commentary on the ongoing power outages.
Speaking on JoyNews’s AM Show, he expressed surprise at what he described as attempts by the party to politicise the situation.
According to him, based on the party’s record in government, the NPP should be the last to speak on issues relating to power supply.
“When you check the data, they are the last people who should be talking about this issue,” he said.
Mr Baidoo argued that the power challenges being experienced in places like Kumasi are not new, insisting that such issues existed during the NPP’s eight years in office.
He questioned what interventions were made during that period, especially given the strong electoral support the party received from the area.
He further maintained that if the problems had been resolved previously, the current administration would not have inherited them.
Mr Baidoo added that it is unrealistic to expect the present government to fix within a short period what he claims was not addressed over eight years.
