A woman has died and a man sustained injuries after a Hyundai Mighty truck reportedly suffered brake failure and crashed near the Ho Civic Centre traffic light in the Volta Regional capital.
The accident occurred on June 13, 2026, and involved a Hyundai Mighty truck that is believed to have lost braking power before the crash.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and rescued two victims, a 35-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, who were trapped or injured in the incident. Both were transported to the Ho Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
However, the female victim later succumbed to her injuries while receiving care, bringing the death toll from the crash to one.
The impact of the crash caused significant damage to the front portion of the truck and also partially destroyed two boutiques located near the traffic light intersection.
Preliminary investigations indicate that brake failure may have been the cause of the accident, although authorities are expected to conduct further inquiries to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
