Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has insisted that his side will begin their 2026 World Cup campaign with a victory over Panama.
The Black Stars open their Group L campaign on Wednesday, June 17, at BMO Field against Panama, in what will be their first match of the tournament.
Preparations for Ghana have, however, been less than ideal, with limited friendly matches leaving questions over the team’s sharpness heading into the global showpiece.
The squad is also expected to be without several key players, adding to the challenge of a difficult group.
Despite those concerns, Queiroz remains upbeat about his team’s prospects, insisting belief inside the camp remains strong.
“We’re strong, and we’re going to make it,” the experienced Portuguese tactician told Asempa FM.
After facing Panama, Ghana will take on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 before concluding their group fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
The Black Stars have already arrived in Toronto and are expected to step up preparations with a mandatory training session as they fine-tune plans for their tournament debut.
