The CEO and Founder of Gracekan Medical Centre, Grace Bindipum, has urged women, particularly those in the Northern Region and especially those around Tatale-Sanguli district to avoid home births and seek professional medical care during pregnancy and childbirth.
She also called on men to support their wives and partners to access healthcare facilities for safe delivery, stressing that financial challenges should not force women to give birth at home.
Madam Bindipum made the call during a free health screening organised for women as part of the 4th Binanbom Homecoming celebration in the Tatale-Sanguli District of the Northern Region.
According to her, some women continue to lose their lives or suffer severe bleeding due to complications arising from home deliveries.
“Some women are losing their lives because they give birth at home, especially because of financial challenges. I am therefore appealing to the men to support their wives and make sure they go to the hospital to deliver safely.”
She said although some families may face financial difficulties, seeking medical attention during childbirth remains critical to protecting the lives of both mothers and their babies.
The Binanbom community is using its annual homecoming to bring together natives and residents to promote peace, unity, culture, sanitation and community development.
As part of this year’s celebration, the organising committee partnered with Gracekan Medical Centre to provide free health screening services to women and other members of the community.
Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the organisers and Gracekan Medical Centre for the initiative, describing the screening as timely and beneficial to the community.
The organisers say the homecoming will continue to serve as a platform for community engagement while promoting the health and wellbeing of residents.
