Members of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana from across the country have gathered to mark the first anniversary of the passing of the founder of the church, Apostle Emeritus Dr Ing Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
The remembrance activities are taking place at the Apostle Safo School of Arts and Sciences, where members of the church have turned up in their numbers to honour the memory of the late Apostle.
His children and other family members have also arrived at the ceremony, joining church members, sympathisers and well-wishers to commemorate one year since his passing.
The anniversary is also being marked at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region, where a striking golden statue of the late Apostle has been unveiled at his burial site.
The monument, mounted on a tall black platform, stands in front of the museum built in his honour and has become one of the major highlights of the remembrance ceremony.
The statue mimics Nkrumah’s monument as Apostle Safo Kantanka is dressed in an elegant traditional cloth, with his right hand raised.
The first anniversary provides an opportunity for the Kristo Asafo Mission and admirers to reflect on his life while celebrating the values and vision he left behind.
A number of activities have been lined up as part of the commemoration, including a groundbreaking ceremony, testimonies from those whose lives were touched by the late Apostle, special lectures on his life and legacy, heritage and cultural displays, as well as special reveals.
