He secured 36,606 of the vote in 2016 election which represented 57.04 percent of the ballots cast when he beat Nii Lante Bannerman.

According to Nii Lante, his decision to contest was arrived at following the support from his constituents to continue with the developmental projects he has begun.

“I’m very confident. We’ve done a lot. We’ve achieved a lot and we will continue to sustain that development and that achievement… I’m already in motion. So I will continue to do what I have to do as an MP and also do what I have to do as a candidate to win by a massive vote.”
