Technical Director for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Francis Oti Akenteng has disclosed that the future of interim Black Stars coach, Maxwell Konadu is unknown after the appointment of Kwesi Appiah as the head coach of the Black Stars.

The former Asante Kotoko head coach was appointed as a stopgap coach after Avram Grant and the FA parted ways mutually after failing to win the AFCON in Gabon.

However, media reports have emerged that Kwesi Appiah will maintain Maxwell as an assistant coach but Akenteng who doubles as a search committee member believes since there is a new coach, Konadu’s future and fate can’t be decided by the Ghana Football Association.

“If a coach is appointed and he is coming with his backroom staff then Maxwell’s fate will surely not be known as an assistant coach again,” He said.

However, the GFA have confirmed handing a two-year contract to James Kwesi Appiah and he’s expected to start his official duties on May 1st.
