Anin Yeboah, Chief Justice nominee, has called for the building of more courts in Ghana to make legal services accessible and less expensive for the ordinary Ghanaian.

According to Justice Anin Yeboah, the creation of more courts across Ghana will help reduce the work load at Ghana’s High Courts.

“We need to build more courts; Ghanaians are litigious and would want a judge or magistrate to adjudicate their cases at the district levels,” he explained.

Justice Anin Yeboah made this appeal during his vetting by the Appointment Committee of Parliament on Monday.

“We are eager to set up more courts to give the people access to justice because most areas in Ghana have few courts resulting in the delay of justice,” he said.

Justice Anin Yeboah also explained that the Judicial Service now had some money for such purpose (setting up more courts) and very soon, will start building courts in the hinterlands.

The CJ nominee also called for an increase in the Internally Generated Funds that is retained by the JS to about 50% to pay petty bills and improve conditions of service within the Judiciary.
