Bernard Allotey Jacobs, former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has asserted that he is a trained propagandist.
The CPP-turned-NDC politician made the comment to illustrate his stature in political communication and for that matter propaganda as a communication tool.
“I am a trained propagandist, I was taught to be a propagandist by the CPP. Some of us are masters in the propaganda business,” he said.
His comments follow attacks on him by some individuals on his reaction to the ‘noise’ surrounding the attempts by the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voters register.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, the man who now describes himself as a social commentator noted that he was not deterred by the attacks.
“Nowadays I have realized that anytime I speak on political issues, some people attack me for airing my personal opinions. Just last week, I spoke on the new voters’ register issue and some persons accused me of attacking NDC and defending the EC, which I didn’t do in my submission,” he noted.
The NDC, since the EC’s decision to compile a new voters’ register, has criticized the electoral body for the decision.
The party and its allies have also held two demonstrations to register their displeasure at the decision.
The EC, however insists a new register will be more credible and efficient for use in the upcoming 2020 parliamentary and presidential elections.
