A late-night fire has destroyed parts of a residential building at Suhum Konfine in the Eastern Region, leaving significant property damage but no casualties.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded to a distress call at about 10:21 p.m.

A team of eight firefighters, led by Station Officer I William Mantey and under the command of Station Officer I Antwi Forson, was dispatched to the scene within minutes.
Upon arrival, the crew found a two-bedroom chamber-and-hall apartment, identified as House No. C83, fully engulfed in flames, with the fire already spreading to nearby rooms.

Electricity supply to the building was immediately cut before firefighters deployed a hose line to contain the blaze. The fire was brought under control within approximately 30 minutes and completely extinguished just before midnight.
Preliminary investigations by the Fire Service suggest the outbreak was caused by an overheated and faulty fan regulator.

The fire destroyed two chamber-and-hall units along with their contents, while two adjoining units were successfully saved by the firefighters.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded. The fire crew returned to base shortly after midnight following the operation.
