A political lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Amakye Boateng is not happy with the Akufo-Addo led government.

According to him, government in almost two years seems to have turned a deaf ear to the plight of Ghanaians.

Dr. Amakye Boateng made the comment while reacting to the decision by former President John Mahama to seek a second term in office.

He formally presented a letter of intent at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters at Adabraka in Accra to indicate his intention to lead the NDC in the 2020 general elections Thursday.

Though he faces stiff opposition from eight gallant men in NDC, Former President Mahama seems to enjoy massive support.

Majority of NDC members including Members of Parliament are convinced he is their best bet for win the 2020 general elections.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Dr. Amakye Boateng said the 2020 is not a done deal for Akufo-Addo.

He said his chances are 50-50 because of what he says is the dwindling socio-economic conditions in the country.

The Political Science lecturer revealed that, the center cannot hold at the seat of government after former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko was sacked.

“Things are not good under Akufo-Addo; people are just quite. If they are to come out with what they know, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won’t survive” he stated.

Dr. Amakye Boateng said if the current situation does not change, “I will advocate for a change in government in 2020”.
