Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as ‘Abronye DC’, has invoked curses on the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh.
The youth activist accused him extorting money from chainsaw operators  and traders at the Dormaa Wood Village in the area.
Abronye DCE noted that the Regional Minister takes GH¢ 7,000.00 per truck from the operators anytime their trucks are seized.
His actions, Kwame Baffoe stressed has brought a lot of hardship among members of the wood village association.
“I don’t hate lawyer Asomah-Cheremeh but his actions as a party chairman and a regional minister has brought the region into disrepute. He illegally seize trucks from chainsaw operators and charge them GHC 7, 000 before he will allow any truck of lumber to leave.
“He uses his position to intimidate these poor operators and it’s very bad as a minister” he indicated on Accra based Okay FM.
Abronye DCE also alleged that the minister has managed to forged documents of DKM customers for his parochial interest.
Abronye DCE further noted that lawyer Asomah-Cheremeh, showed gross disrespect to party members by disqualifying competent members who wish to become DCEs and extort monies from incompetent people with the promise to make them DCEs.
The situation, he noted has angered a lot of the members who are planning to stage a massive demonstration against him.
Kwame Baffoe said he has refused to report to the party because the NPP is not an audited firm to investigate a public officer.
He has therefore made a passionate appeal to President Akufo-Addo to as a matter of urgency relieve him from his post if he is committed to fighting corruption.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer says he has concrete evidence to prove his allegations against the minister.
“Some people whose monies were extorted by the minister are planning to stage a demo against the minister if he is not sacked, some of them I learnt have even invoked curses on him and so it is appropriate that he steps aside so that investigation is conducted on him. He doesn’t deserve to be at his post.
“Nana Addo should sack him if indeed he hates corruption. I have evidence and documents to prove what I’m saying” he noted.
To prove his seriousness, Abronye DC has invoked the dreaded ‘Antoa Nyama’ deity on Mr. Asomah Cheremeh should he deny the allegation.
“Lawyer Asomah Cheremeh is guilty and should not dare not deny because I have my evidence, if he tries to deny, may antoa and thunder strike him and his children” he warned.

But aide to the Regional Minister, Maxwell Mahama speaking on Adom TV denied the allegations leveled against his boss.
He stated that Lawyer Asomah Cheremeh is committed to fighting illegal chainsaw or timber operators in the region.
“My boss is not corrupt and will never be corrupt and his conscience cannot be bought by any one” he said.
He said all allegations leveled against the Minister by Abronye is false, malicious and defamatory only to tarnish his hard won reputation as a diligent legal practitioner, a politician, a responsible family man with a wife and children, a noble and a respected person in the society.
He added that, it is again a calculated attempt to run down the government machinery in the region to foil Lawyer Asomah Cheremeh efforts in fighting against the galamsey operations and illegal timber operations in the region.
However, Mr. Mahama said this will not deter his boss from discharging his responsibility as a regional chairman.

  1. One thing Ghanaians should understand is that the forest and it’s resources are for our good. The forest cover protects the soil from erosion, and the leave fall adds nutrients to the soil. The timber and mineral resources belong to the state. When timber is arbitrary harvested either through the activities of chainsaw operators or manually, the state is robbed of some valuable income. The consequences are that the state is unable to provide certain important amenities needed by the people. Furthermore the land is made bare and soil erosion also takes it’s toll. The land becomes depleted of its nutrients and this results in poor harvest when cropped. Forest cover also have good effect on climate. In conclusion, I believe the regional minister is doing a good job in charging these illegal lumber workers to discourage them. These deserve a harsher punishment rather. He is being lenient with them rather.

  2. Abronye. What are you teaching the youth CURSES. Can’t youmake your point without curses and what has his innocent children done to you. Pls let’s teach the youth the right things when we get the chance to speak in public.
