The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a gas leakage from a bulk tanker involved in an accident at Fiaso on the Techiman-Nkoranza Highway in the Bono East Region.
The tanker, which was carrying about 4,000 kilogrammes of gas, was involved in the accident on Thursday, August 27, 2026, resulting in a leakage from the tank.
The incident was reported to the GNFS at about 9:35 a.m., prompting the immediate dispatch of firefighting teams from Techiman and Nkoranza to the scene.
A crew of six firefighters from the Techiman Fire Station, led by Assistant Officer Awal Mohammed, arrived with fire tender DPT FS 547. A second team of six firefighters from the Nkoranza Fire Station also joined the operation with fire tender DPT FS 509.
According to the GNFS, the teams arrived at about 10:23 a.m. and immediately assessed the situation before halting vehicular movement along the affected stretch as a safety precaution.
The firefighters subsequently used foam concentrate to tactically control the situation and successfully stopped the gas leakage.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Nkoranza South, Godfred Dapaa, was also present at the scene during the operation.
The GNFS said no casualties were recorded in the incident.
The Service has urged the public to exercise caution around accident scenes involving gas and other hazardous materials and to allow emergency responders to safely manage such incidents.
