The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriye, says the launch of the Strategic National Public Health Emergency Operations Centres document does not replace the statutory mandates of institutions but rather brings together resources to strengthen Ghana’s response to public health emergencies.
Speaking at the launch in Accra, Dr. Kaba Akoriye explained that the document is intended to address recommendations aimed at advancing Ghana’s health security and improving coordination during emergencies.

He said the initiative would provide a structured framework for relevant institutions to work together and mobilise the necessary resources when the country is confronted with public health emergencies.
The Director-General emphasised the importance of collaboration among institutions in ensuring an effective and coordinated response to emergencies, while maintaining the respective mandates and responsibilities of each organisation.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Kwame Amponsah Achiano, said the GHS is committed to working with its stakeholders to translate the document into action.
He said the Service would collaborate with relevant partners to ensure the effective implementation of the strategic document and strengthen the country’s preparedness and response capacity.
