Four family members, including two children, die in Apemanim fire

Four members of a family, including two young children, have reportedly died in a fire that destroyed their home at Apemanim Number Two in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.

The victims were identified as 23-year-old Kwesi, his wife, Maa Abena, their four-year-old child and a three-week-old baby.

The fire reportedly broke out around 2am on Thursday, October 1, trapping the family inside the house as the flames spread rapidly through the building.

Residents who witnessed the incident attempted to extinguish the fire and rescue the occupants but were unable to save them.

An eyewitness said efforts by people at the scene to contain the blaze and reach the family proved unsuccessful.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The bodies of the four victims have since been transported to a mortuary, while investigations are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
