Former Energy Minister under the erstwhile Mahama administration, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah, is calling for an international probe into the Power Distribution Services (PDS) concession debacle.

To Mr Buah, who believes an audit will help retrieve money lost to the deal, the current situation could have been avoided if the government had heeded to the various red flags that were raised.

“The way forward is that there should be an urgent international audit by a reputable company. We want an international reputable firm to come and see where our money has gone. Where is our money? We need to establish that and find a legal means of collecting our money,” he said.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM, Mr Buah, said Ghana’s energy sector could collapse if the PDS debacle is not handled properly.

“The consequence of this issue is this; the heart and soul of our energy sector will collapse and we are going to be in crisis, more than we have been before,” he cautioned.
