The Electoral Commission (EC), at a stakeholder forum on Wednesday, urged Civil Society Organisations, the media, security agencies and the various political parties to play their respective roles in ensuring a peaceful and violence-free election in December.

Speaking at the stakeholder forum, Acting Director of the Commission, Alexander Poku Akubia, explained that the EC alone cannot ensure a free and fair electoral process and as such needs the cooperation and support of the various stakeholders in facilitating a transparent electoral process.

Mr Akubia cautioned against the use of vigilante groups by political parties during electioneering periods and urged them to follow due processes to resolve election related issues.

He also advised the media to use appropriate election language and terminologies in reporting on issues relating to the general election.
