The CEO of Simon Agbetsu Foundation for the Young Disabled, Felix Agbetsu has appealed to government to create a regulatory body that can deal with fake NGOs in the country.
Felix Agbetsu, who is also a disabled person, noted that it is difficult to get sponsorship from corporate bodies due to the bad attitude of some NGOs.
He said some NGOs go for sponsorship from these corporate bodies in the name of helping or doing something for disabled persons, but the moneys end up in their private pockets.
Felix Agbetsu was speaking with Adom News Reporter Kofi Nkansah during a function where he fed about 1,000 disabled persons at the Efua Sunderland Children’s Park in Accra.
He said the purpose of his Foundation is to create jobs for the disabled persons in the country since it is difficult for them to get formal jobs.
Felix Agbetsu also pleaded with the government to assist the disabled persons with the funding to engage in income generating activities and reduce their struggles.
Some of the disabled persons who benefitted from the Foundation, were full of gratitude saying that such functions enable to meet person in similar conditions doing well, and that encourages them to want to strive for a better lives.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Director of Ministry of Local Government, Irene Afriyie Agyemang assured them that the Ministry will ensure there is a regulatory body in place to deal with fake NGOs in the system.
