Construction of interdenominational National Cathedral will take five years to complete, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng has said.

He noted that, feasibility studies on the project is 70 percent complete and they are confident the project will be completed in record time.

Construction work on the interdenominational National Cathedral at Ridge in Accra is set to begin in March 2020.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, announced this while presenting the 2020 Budget and Economic Policy in Parliament on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. He said procurement processes to select a contractor are expected to conclude by the end of 2019.

Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, who also confirmed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesda,y said preparatory works for the construction of the Cathedral is 70 percent complete.

He said given the speed with which the contractors are working, the national edifice will be an iconic building in Africa.

 Rev. Boateng, however, expressed worry over the level of dissent that had arisen due to the contraction of the National Cathedral.

“We are not building a church; this is a national monument which needs the support of all,” he added.
