Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested the chief of New Akrofuom, Nana Kwaku Amoah, in the Adansi Asokwa district for allegedly attempting to sodomise a 17-year-old boy.
The incident took place on Monday, October 23,2023.
The chief, popularly known as Cool according to reports entered the teenager’s room with the intention of engaging in the act with him, but the boy alerted some residents.
The chief upon sensing danger fled but the irate residents went to his residence and attempted to lynch him.
Speaking to Adom News, the Mfantifohene, Nana Kwabena Eboo, said the chief rushed to his house at about 12:30 a.m.
Nana Amoah claimed he went to collect a phone from the teenage boy and was attacked by some youth who accused him of attempting to sodomise the boy.
The timely intervention of the police saved him from the attackers and took him into custody.
The boy’s mother, Osofo Mame Martha Addai and the Assembly member, Emmanuel Akyerem both confirmed the incident and said the case was being handled by the Fomena police.
The Assembly member revealed that, the chief had previously been accused of a similar act.
