Actor John Dumelo has sent a message of caution to politicians and their followers to stop victimizing celebrities for supporting political parties.

According to Mr Dumelo, Ghana practices democracy hence celebrities also have rights to support ideologies of any political parties they main deem fit.

John Dumelo made the point when he appeared on Dining with Cooks and Braggarts, a show hosted by Yvonne Okoro.

He revealed that supporting the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has caused him several cases of abuse.

John Dumelo who has been tipped to run for Parliamentary elections in 2020 mentioned that it is high time politicians and their followers realised that there was freedom of association and celebrities to have “rights of choice and association” as prescribed in the constitution.

Mr Dumelo said he would, on any day, defend any other celebrity who may be supporting another political party other than his, especially if the person suffers abuse for his or her choice.

It would be recalled that John Dumelo was subjected to national disgrace when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government took a V8 which was believed to have been “stolen” from the state from him.
