Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Adorye, has asked the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, to blame himself for his arrest by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Mr Adorye has opined that events would not have turned out the way the they did if Mr Gyamfi had willingly turned himself in for investigations.

“I am not happy about Sammy Gyamfi’s arrest because I am human and it can happen to me but he refused to respond to several invitations from the CID so he should blame himself for what happened and leave Asante Bediatuo out,” he said on Peace FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

Officials of the Police CID on Monday morning picked up Mr Gyamfi a few minutes after a studio discussion on UTV.

The NDC activist was reportedly arrested for a cybercrime case filed against him by Jubilee House but was granted bail the same day.

Meanwhile, the NDC has described his arrest as “needless show of excessive power” by the Akufo-Addo-led administration.

NDC Communications Director, Kakra Essamuah, at a press conference in Accra said the “Gestapo” style arrest was a reprisal act towards Mr Gyamfi for constantly exposing the corrupt activities of the incumbent government.
