The Paramount Chief of Bamvem, Abdulai Ziblim, has donated a one-acre plot of land at Jongshegu, a suburb of Tamale, to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for the construction of a new fire station.
The donation is expected to help improve emergency response and strengthen fire safety coverage in Jongshegu and surrounding communities, which are experiencing rapid development.
A delegation from the GNFS, led by the Northern Regional Commander, ACFO I Joseph Koranteng, formally accepted the land on behalf of the Service.
ACFO I Koranteng expressed appreciation to the Paramount Chief for the gesture, describing it as an important contribution towards protecting lives and property in the area.
He said the proposed fire station would enhance the Service’s ability to respond promptly to fire outbreaks and other emergencies within Jongshegu and nearby communities.
The Paramount Chief called on relevant stakeholders to support the timely development of the facility to ensure the land serves its intended purpose.
ACFO I Koranteng also highlighted the importance of collaboration between traditional authorities and state institutions in improving public safety and emergency response.
The GNFS says the proposed station will provide stronger fire safety coverage as Jongshegu and its surrounding communities continue to expand.
