Ghanaian musician and backing vocalist Ebenezer Osei Kumi has died after battling liver disease.
His death was announced on Sunday September 13, 2026 weeks after the musician and his family appealed for financial support to help fund his medical treatment.
Osei Kumi had been receiving treatment at Nyaho Medical Centre in Accra as his condition reportedly worsened.
His sister previously disclosed that the family was spending about GH¢15,000 every two days on his care, placing a significant financial strain on them.
She also revealed that doctors were considering sending him abroad for further treatment, prompting the family to appeal to the public and well-wishers for assistance.
Despite the efforts to raise funds and support his treatment, Osei Kumi has passed away.
The musician was known within Ghana’s gospel music circles for his work as a backing vocalist for artistes including Nacee and Grace Ashy.
His death has since triggered reactions from colleagues and others who knew him through his years of contributing to live performances and gospel music productions.
