The former Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu-Juabeng in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh has expressed disgust at recent happenings in the camp of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase constituency.

“What’s happening in Asawase is very bad. We won’t allow any element to destroy the party and so any devil tormenting Asawase will be uprooted,” he told Accra based Neat FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

The issue reached a boiling point when the NDC’s regional executives refused to accept the nomination forms of Masawudu Mubarick, an aspirant.

Mr Mubarick, an NDC member has made his intentions to contest the Asawase NDC parliamentary primary known but the executives allegedly want to make incumbent Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka go unopposed.

Some of his supporters openly threatened to cause mayhem if the party’s leadership both in Accra and Kumasi deny him the right to contest.

Mr Ponkoh, who is not happy about the development, wants the party’s general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia to resolve the matter as soon as possible to ensure peace in the constituency.

“I don’t want to make comments on the issue now because I learnt the issue is now at the party headquarters and so for the trust I have in Asiedu Nketia, I hope he deals with the issue peacefully. I know General Mosquito will deal with the issue within two minutes because I always trust in his judgment,” he stated.
