The Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai has officially cut sod for the construction of a modern 24-hour economy market at Sefwi Bekwai in the Western North Region.
The 24-hour market initiative, a key policy intervention and campaign promise of President John Dramani Mahama, is being rolled out across various regions and districts to stimulate local economic growth and improve trading activities.
In line with this national agenda, the Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Bright Asamoah Brefo, performed the sod-cutting ceremony to officially commence construction works at Sefwi Bekwai.
Speaking to the media, the MP noted that the existing Sefwi Bekwai market is in a deteriorating condition and would require substantial financial resources for renovation.

He explained that securing the 24-hour economy market project presents a more sustainable and economically viable solution, particularly as the community has already made available a suitable parcel of land to support the large-scale infrastructure project.
Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Bekwai, Oyeadeayie Basape Kwadwo Armah III, expressed appreciation for the initiative.
According to him, the project is expected to address long-standing challenges faced by traders and market women while significantly improving commercial activities and promoting socio-economic development in the area.
