A level 400 student of the University of Ghana, Jennifer Nyarko has jumped to her death from the balcony of the Akuaffo Hall.
Head of Public Affairs at the University, Stella Amoah, who disclosed this on Joy News said it is not clear why the deceased jumped to her death but some students are speculating that she may have been suffering from Hay Fever.
According to her, reports from hall authorities indicated that around 4:30am Wednesday a loud noise was heard behind the hall and later a passerby spotted her on the floor.
“Around 4:30 am at dawn there was a loud noise that was heard and layter on the porters were alerted when someone found out that a lifeless body was on the ground. And so the porters visited the scene only to found out that it was a female student of the Akuafo hall” she said.
Mrs Amoah said she was confirmed dead after she was rushed to the Legon hospital.
She said parents of the deceased have been to the school and have identified the body and are now awaiting the reports from the police.
“The next of kin, I mean her parents were informed and have been here to identify the body and so we do not want to be speculative but wait on the authorities to work” she said.
She said the incident has sent the whole campus into a state of shock.
