Twenty-seven people have been arrested for various sanitation offences during an anti-flood inspection exercise at Juaboso in the Western North Region.

The District Chief Executive for Juaboso District, Alexander Adu Quist, led a joint team of security personnel to inspect the condition of recently desilted streams and cleared gutters as part of measures to prevent flooding.

The exercise formed part of ongoing desilting works by the district assembly aimed at improving the free flow of water and reducing the risk of floods during the rainy season.

During the inspection, the 27 individuals were arrested and subsequently arraigned before the Juaboso Magistrate Court for prosecution.

Speaking on the exercise, Alexander Adu Quist explained that the assembly had invested in desilting drains and streams to prevent flooding and warned that persons who violate sanitation regulations would face the law.

He urged residents to support the assembly’s sanitation efforts by keeping drains clean and complying with environmental regulations to help prevent future flooding in the area.
