The District Chief Executive for Akatsi North, Bless Katamani, and the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, have commissioned a number of completed development projects and cut sod for new infrastructure works aimed at improving access to potable water and community services across the district.
The projects, funded through the MP’s Common Fund, the District Assembly Common Fund, and contributions from beneficiary communities, are intended to address critical development needs, particularly access to clean drinking water and improved public information services.

Among the projects commissioned were a mechanized borehole with a concrete stand, storage tank and distribution pipelines at Kpohe, a newly constructed information centre at Ave Wukpe, and another mechanized borehole facility at Ave Kpeduhoe.
The delegation also inaugurated three mechanized boreholes with concrete stands, storage tanks and distribution pipelines at Ave Senior High School (AVESCO), the DCE’s bungalow and the District Coordinating Director’s bungalow. A mechanized borehole with a 10,000-litre storage tank at Metsrikasa was also commissioned.
Additional projects completed and handed over included mechanized boreholes at Ave Technical Institute (AVETECH), Atsata Bame, Avega, Agormor and Avevoe, all equipped with storage tanks and distribution systems to ensure sustainable access to potable water.

An information centre at Korve was also commissioned to enhance communication and civic engagement within the community.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr. Katamani said the commissioning and sod-cutting exercises reflected the Assembly’s commitment to bringing development closer to residents and addressing some of the district’s most pressing challenges.
He noted that access to safe drinking water remains a key priority, adding that the projects would improve public health and reduce the burden on residents, especially women and children who often travel long distances in search of water.
The DCE further stated that the construction of information centres would strengthen local governance by improving the dissemination of information and encouraging greater community participation.

Mr. Katamani expressed appreciation to the MP and all stakeholders whose support contributed to the successful execution of the projects.
For his part, Mr. Nortsu-Kotoe urged residents to take ownership of the facilities and ensure their proper maintenance to guarantee long-term benefits for future generations.
Some residents who spoke to Adom News welcomed the projects and expressed gratitude to the DCE, MP and government for responding to the developmental needs of their communities. They also pledged to protect and maintain the facilities to ensure their sustainability.
The commissioning of the projects underscores the commitment of the Akatsi North District Assembly and its partners to improving social infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life of residents across the district.
