Pupils of the Nana Badu Bonsu Junior High School and Methodist Primary School in the Western Region had the shock of their lives when they arrived at the school and found their classrooms locked.

Some unknown persons are reported to have stormed the school in the lower Takoradi Municipality to nail the doors.

The pupils were found loitering on the compound. Others were found on the veranda trying to pick out their books to read.

Assemblyman for the area, Gilbert Siaw, who spoke to Adom News about the incident, said he received a distress call around 7:00 am.

He quickly rushed to the school to assess the situation and find possible ways to resolve it so the children could start academic activities for the day.

“I had to get carpenters to get the nails off all the doors and we will move forward to hold a meeting with the appropriate authorities but I believe whatever the problem is, it cannot continue like this,” he said.

Meanwhile, with the perpetrators not immediately known, headmaster for the school, Emmanuel Akaji, pointed fingers at some persons he said were at New Takoradi Methodist.

According to him, there has been a long-standing rift between the two schools which he believes has accounted for the development.

He has, therefore, appealed to the appropriate authorities to sit and deal with the matter extensively and find the best solutions.
