Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Nweke has publicly disclosed his battle with cancer and appealed for financial support as he continues treatment.

The actor revealed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer last year and has since undergone several medical procedures, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, in a bid to overcome the illness.

According to him, efforts had been made to manage the situation privately, with support from close friends and colleagues, but the financial demands of cancer treatment have become overwhelming.

“We have tried to manage privately this and fix it on our own, but cancer isn’t a sickness one person can handle,” the statement read.

The actor disclosed that more than ₦15 million has already been spent on his treatment, yet further medical expenses are still required as he continues to respond to treatment.

They added that an additional ₦17 million is needed to help sustain his care and improve his chances of recovery.

Several actors and colleagues in the Nigerian film industry have reportedly supported Ikechukwu during his health journey, but the assistance has not been enough to cover the rising cost of treatment.

The appeal is now seeking support from the public, fans and well-wishers to help the actor continue his fight against the disease.

His announcement comes just months after Alexx Ekube succumbed to his liver cancer battle.
