The Chief of Gomoa Otapirow and Nsafoahen of Gomoa Assin Traditional Area, Nana Osompa Nyamekye II, has welcomed the launch of Project ETHICS, describing it as a timely initiative that can help shape a more responsible and morally upright generation.

Speaking to Adom News after participating in the launch of the Ghana-Malta ethics education programme in Accra, the traditional leader said the initiative had deepened his understanding of the importance of integrity and responsible leadership.

According to him, the programme has highlighted the need for individuals in all sectors of society, including chiefs, teachers, politicians and public officials, to uphold ethical values in their daily activities.

Nana Osompa Nyamekye II expressed concern about the growing cases of corruption in society, stressing that national development can only be achieved when citizens commit to doing the right thing.

He said the decision by the Ministry of Education to integrate ethics education into the school curriculum was a positive step that would help young people develop strong moral values from an early age.

The Chief believes exposing children to ethics education will prepare them to serve with honesty and integrity when they assume roles in public service, traditional leadership and other institutions in the future.

He, however, called on the government to extend the programme beyond schools and into communities to ensure the message of integrity reaches people across all levels of society.

“As an ambassador, it is my responsibility to create awareness and encourage people to ensure that whatever we do is aimed at the progress of the country and not centred on personal interests,” he said.

Nana Osompa Nyamekye II added that building a culture of ethics requires collective commitment from everyone, as responsible citizens remain key to Ghana’s long-term development.
