Former Ghana international David Accam has urged Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz to prioritise team cohesion as Ghana step up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His comments follow Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Wales in a warm-up match at the Cardiff City Stadium, a fixture used to assess the team’s readiness ahead of the tournament.
Accam, while cautious about making predictions on Ghana’s prospects, believes the newly assembled technical setup must move quickly to correct long-standing issues within the squad.
“At the moment, we have a new technical team, and hopefully they will solve the problems we had before,” he told Graphic Sports.
“They need to bring cohesion to the team and help the players perform better together,” Accam added.
Ghana, set for their fifth appearance at the global showpiece, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia—widely considered one of the tournament’s most demanding groups.
The Black Stars begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before taking on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. They will wrap up their group fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
Ghana are targeting a return to the knockout stage for the first time since 2010, having exited at the group phase in both 2014 and 2022.
