The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Agyei, has called for Evangelist Suro Nyame to be considered as an ambassador in the fight against drug abuse in Ghana.
According to him, Evangelist Suro Nyame’s unique approach to engaging drug users and peddlers has made a significant impact on efforts to discourage substance abuse among the youth.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr Agyei praised the evangelist for his outreach style, noting that he deliberately blends in with addicts to better connect with them.
“That’s why I really like Evangelist Suro Nyame. The way his aura is, he dresses like the addicts to make it look like he is among them and he preaches to them,” he stated.
According to him, the evangelist’s messages often resonate deeply with drug users and influence many to reconsider their actions.
“Whenever he is talking, it touches them,” he added.
Mr Agyei expressed concern that authorities and stakeholders have not been deliberate enough in recognising and supporting Evangelist Suro Nyame’s contribution to the anti-drug campaign.
“We haven’t been deliberate about that guy. We could make him an ambassador in this fight,” he said.
He further urged the public to support efforts aimed at tackling the growing problem of drug abuse in the country.
“So I urge everyone to join the fight,” he added.
