The Akropong Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Daniel Awere, has called on the public to disregard reports claiming that the party’s Akuapem North Constituency Secretary, Isaac Basta Hamillin, died while engaging in sexual activity at a hotel.

According to Mr. Awere, although the party has indeed lost its constituency secretary, the circumstances surrounding his death are still under investigation, and it is wrong for people to circulate unverified information.

Speaking on the incident, he explained that the late secretary was on official duty when the unfortunate event occurred.

“We were trying to reach him several times, but there was no response. We later went to the hotel where he had lodged and asked the hotel management to open the door. When the door was opened, we found him lying dead in the room,” he stated.

Mr. Awere said the police were immediately informed after the discovery, and the body has since been handed over to the authorities for further investigations.

He condemned the circulation of rumours suggesting that the deceased died during sex, stressing that such claims are false and disrespectful to his memory.

“Our culture and traditions demand that we show dignity and respect to the dead. It is very unfair for people to speculate and spread false information about the cause of his death before investigations are concluded,” he added.

The NDC chairman further appealed to the public to stop sharing the reports and instead sympathise with the party and the bereaved family during this difficult period.
