The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has visited the family of former President Hilla Limann in Gwollu as part of her engagements in the area.
The Minister, together with the Member of Parliament for Sissala West, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, met elders of the late President’s family. Discussions focused on the history, culture and heritage of the Gwollu community.

According to Madam Gomashie, the visit offered her the opportunity to learn about the strategies adopted by the forebears of Gwollu to protect the community from invaders and raiders in earlier times.
She noted that the visit highlighted the ingenuity and resilience of the people, describing the experience as both humbling and insightful.

The Minister also revealed that elders and tour guides expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for his support and relationship with the community.
During the tour, Madam Gomashie was introduced to a traditional bone-setting centre in the community, known for treating fractures and other injuries through indigenous orthopedic practices.

She also visited a sacred crocodile pond in Gwollu, which holds spiritual and traditional significance for the people and where the reptiles are protected from hunting.
The Tourism Minister later joined the MP for Sissala West to attend the funeral of a chief in the area, where she received commendation from the Paramount Chief for her role in promoting Fugu and Ghanaian culture.
