The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the start of Exercise Storm Shield 2026, a large-scale military training operation designed to strengthen national security preparedness and improve operational readiness in parts of the Bono and Upper East regions.
In a statement, the military high command, the exercise will involve coordinated participation from the Ghana Army, Air Force, and Navy, working together in simulated operations aimed at improving joint response, communication, and combat effectiveness.
GAF explained that Exercise Storm Shield 2026 is part of its routine training schedule, conducted periodically to assess troop readiness and strengthen collaboration among the various service branches in dealing with emerging security challenges.
The exercise will be carried out in selected communities within the two regions, with the deployment of military vehicles, equipment, and personnel as part of the training activities.
Residents have therefore been advised not to panic when they observe increased military presence or movement during the period.

Military authorities have also urged the public to cooperate fully with personnel on the ground and to comply with all safety instructions throughout the exercise.
The GAF reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s territorial integrity and maintaining peace and stability across the country.
