Family of the late Omanhene of the Agogo Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Akuoko-Sarpong, have announced that his final funeral rites will commence next month on June 4, 2026.
The announcement was made by his daughter, AJ Akuoko-Sarpong, who confirmed that the event will begin with a 40-day observation ceremony at the Agogo Palace in the Ashanti Region.
AJ Akuoko-Sarpong extended an open invitation to the public, urging all who knew or admired the late chief to join the family in honouring his life, legacy, and contributions to both traditional leadership and national development.
“Let us gather to pray for his eternal rest and celebrate the man who was a Paramount Chief, Statesman, Lawyer, Minister of State, Vandal and Bleoobi but most importantly, my Father,” she said.
She described the passing of her father as a profound loss which she is still struggling to come to terms with.
Further funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as part of the traditional rites leading to his final burial.
The late Agogohene, Nana Kwame Akuoko-Sarpong, passed away on March 27, 2026, after a prolonged illness.
He spent 51 years as the traditional ruler.
