BBC Industrials on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, joined the world to observe the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, a day dedicated to promoting safer and healthier environments in workplaces and communities.
BBC Industrials, a leading name in the paint and decorative industry, marked the occasion with a practical intervention in Tema, reinforcing its commitment to safety, community development, and responsible industry practice.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, the company undertook a road marking exercise on key streets leading to the Valco Roundabout within the Tema industrial enclave, where it operates. The initiative was aimed at improving road visibility and enhancing safety for motorists and pedestrians.
The intervention comes amid growing concerns over road safety in the country. According to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department, Ghana recorded 14,743 road crashes in 2025, representing a 9.3 percent increase over the previous year.
The report also indicated 2,949 fatalities, the highest recorded in 35 years, underscoring the urgent need for practical safety measures.
Experts note that while road safety depends on several factors, clear road markings remain one of the most immediate and effective tools for reducing accidents. They improve visibility, guide traffic flow, and help reduce confusion among road users, particularly at night and during poor weather conditions.
Through the initiative, BBC Industrials says it is contributing directly to safer road conditions within its host community.
“As a company rooted in Tema, we recognize that our responsibility extends beyond manufacturing quality paints. It includes actively contributing to the safety and wellbeing of the people who live and work around us,” a company representative said.
