A 36-year-old pastor, Richmond Frimpong, and two alleged accomplices have been denied bail by the Bibiani District Court over an alleged attempt to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District.
The accused persons are currently in police custody following their arraignment on charges related to the incident.
Speaking to the media after proceedings, defence lawyer Francis Kyei Badu said he had appealed to the court to grant bail to his clients, but the request was declined.
He explained, however, that the court indicated it lacked jurisdiction to grant bail in the matter.
Mr Kyei Badu added that steps are being taken to seek bail at the High Court.
The accused persons are expected to remain in custody until May 5, 2026, when the case is scheduled to resume.
