The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has called for thorough investigations into recent fire outbreaks at state institutions, warning that the incidents could be acts of deliberate sabotage.

Addressing party supporters and residents in the Bolgatanga East Constituency as part of his ongoing nationwide “Thank You” tour, he expressed concern about the timing and frequency of the fires.

“We must investigate every fire outbreak that happens in any state institution to rule out sabotage,” he stated.

Mr Asiedu Nketia drew parallels with similar incidents recorded in 2000 and 2016, suggesting what he described as a recurring pattern that requires urgent national attention.

“These occurrences are eerily similar to what happened in those years. We cannot afford to remain passive when state property is being destroyed under suspicious circumstances,” he added.

He further alleged that the incidents could form part of a calculated attempt to trigger artificial power outages, commonly referred to as “dumsor,” aimed at undermining the current administration or shaping public sentiment.

“The devil will be exposed for any intentional sabotage aimed at creating artificial ‘dumsor’ to destabilise the country,” he said.

The NDC Chairman also urged party members and the general public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, stressing that the protection of national assets is a shared responsibility.

“We must be the watchdogs of our own institutions. If you see something, say something,” he urged.

The Bolgatanga East engagement formed part of his wider tour to express gratitude to grassroots supporters while also outlining the party’s concerns about governance and the management of national infrastructure.
