The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has confirmed Cabinet’s approval of visa waiver agreements with Antigua and Barbuda, the Maldives and Zambia as part of efforts to expand travel opportunities and strengthen diplomatic relations.
In a Facebook post, Mr Ablakwa said Cabinet had granted approval for the agreements, which are expected to ease travel between Ghana and the three countries.
He explained that the new arrangement will cover all categories of passports—ordinary, service and diplomatic.
Under the agreement, Ghanaians and citizens of the three countries can travel for short visits of up to 30 days per trip without needing a visa.
Mr Ablakwa added that the agreements will, in due course, be presented to Parliament for ratification.
He also noted that government remains committed to pursuing more visa waiver deals while tightening security in the issuance of Ghanaian passports.
