Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, Sarfo Duku, has confirmed that the club is preparing to appoint an experienced head coach ahead of the 2026/27 football season as part of plans to rebuild the team.

The Porcupine Warriors are currently without a substantive head coach following the resignation of Karim Zito, with Prince Yaw Owusu taking charge on an interim basis until the end of the campaign.

With the 2025/26 season drawing to a close, Duku revealed that discussions are already underway to bring in a new leader capable of reshaping the squad.

“We are hoping and working to appoint an experienced manager going into next season,” he said.

He added that the club remains open to both local and foreign options.

“It could be either a local coach or an expatriate coach who can transform the playing body,” Duku said.

Despite their difficult season, Kotoko are not completely giving up on their remaining fixtures. Duku stressed that the team will continue to compete until the end.

“The season is almost over for Asante Kotoko with four games to end the season, but then we are not giving up as a club because anything can happen.”

Kotoko have struggled for consistency throughout the campaign and currently sit sixth on the league table, trailing leaders Medeama by 10 points with five matches left. Their fading title hopes have left supporters increasingly concerned about the club’s direction.
