Chief Executive Officer of Aduana FC, Collins Atta Poku, has called for urgent improvements in security arrangements for club travels following the tragic death of forward Dominic Frimpong.

The 20-year-old, who was on loan at Berekum Chelsea, was killed after armed robbers attacked the team bus while they were returning from a Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex last Sunday night.

Speaking to 3Sports, Atta Poku expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing the loss as both painful and avoidable. He stressed the need for increased security presence, particularly police escorts, for teams travelling to and from league matches.

“To know someone that closely, and work with someone closely like that, it is painful… it’s very painful,” he said.

“It’s necessary that we get police on our buses when we are going to these games. We know the numbers are a little stretched, but we have to do something about it at some point to make sure that we have enough security on the bus when we are travelling, especially at night,” he added.

He further highlighted the logistical and financial challenges clubs face, noting that limited resources often prevent teams from staying overnight after matches, forcing them to embark on risky late-night journeys.

“A lot of planning goes into it; sometimes it’s difficult, and we don’t have the resources to sleep over in such situations,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for those responsible for the attack.
