Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani has confirmed that goalkeeper Benjamin Asare is close to returning from injury.

Asare, the Black Stars’ first-choice keeper, has been out since sustaining an injury in a friendly against South Korea in November, causing him to miss seven league matches.

His last appearance was in the Super Clash against Asante Kotoko on November 9, 2025.

The 28-year-old has been back in training since December 17, and Dramani says he is approaching full match fitness.

“Benjamin (Asare) trained throughout last week. So he is about seventy per cent ready. He played 30 minutes of our friendly game last week,” he said in Saturday’s post-match conference.

“We are trying to integrate him gradually so that he comes back. He went out with a force majeure, so that influences how we reintegrate him in the squad,” he added.

Asare is expected to feature in the squad for Hearts’ upcoming league clash against second-placed Medeama S.C. on Friday.

After their win over FC Samartex, Hearts of Oak sit fifth with 28 points, just two behind Medeama, who are level on points with league leaders Asante Kotoko.
