As part of its 2025 Christmas Eve outreach, the Adom FM morning show Dwaso Nsem spent the entire broadcast with residents of the Weija Leprosarium in Accra, turning the caregiving centre into a space of warmth, music and shared humanity.

From the early hours of the show, the compound of the leprosarium came alive as the Dwaso Nsem team interacted closely with residents, sharing hot meals and beverages while engaging them in open, heartfelt conversations about life, resilience and hope.

The live broadcast allowed listeners across the country to witness the stories and strength of the residents, many of whom are often unseen and unheard.

The visit took on a festive glow as residents showcased their talents through singing and other performances, drawing loud applause and smiles from both guests and caregivers.

Their songs, filled with gratitude and faith, created an emotional atmosphere that underscored the true meaning of Christmas love, inclusion and compassion.

Adding to the experience, Advent Voices delivered soul-soothing gospel renditions that swept everyone off their feet, lifting spirits and turning the leprosarium into a place of praise and celebration.

The music bridged the gap between visitors and residents, reinforcing the message that joy is most powerful when shared.

Rev. Father Campbell, Head of the Weija Leprosarium and retired Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish, expressed deep appreciation to the Adom FM team for the gesture.

He described the outreach as a true reflection of the love, sacrifice and generosity that define the Christmas season.

Over the years, Rev. Father Campbell has been a vocal advocate for greater compassion towards residents of the leprosarium, many of whom have been abandoned by family and society.

He noted that neglect remains a major challenge, explaining that emotional isolation often worsens residents’ health conditions and, in some cases, leads to premature death.

The Dwaso Nsem outreach not only brought smiles to the faces of the residents but also reminded the wider public of the importance of empathy, dignity and consistent care for the most vulnerable, especially during the festive season.
