Hearts of Oak will respond to GFA’s charges appropriately – Opare Addo

Communications Director of Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, has confirmed that the club will issue a formal response to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after receiving multiple charges following their defeat to Asante Kotoko.

The Accra-based club suffered a 1-0 loss to their arch-rivals in a heated Matchday 9 encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, with Guinean forward Morifing Donzo scoring from the penalty spot in the first half to secure victory for Kotoko.

In the aftermath of the match, Hearts defender Hussein Mohammed was cited for allegedly assaulting match officials, while the club faces additional sanctions for failing to control its supporters.

Reacting to the development, Opare Addo said the club is carefully reviewing the charges before determining its next steps.

“We will look at the charge and respond appropriately,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

“If apology is part of the response, so shall it be,” he added.

The defeat ended Hearts of Oak’s unbeaten run in the Ghana Premier League. The Phobians currently sit sixth on the league table with 16 points and are set to face Swedru All Blacks in their Matchday 10 fixture this weekend at the Swedru Sports Stadium.
